Front Suspension

CST long travel system modified for Fox 2.5" Coilover, Fox 2.5" 2-tube bypass piggyback shocks, and Fox 2.0 Bump-stops to limit the suspension to 15 inches while still allowing for full adjustability. SoCal SuperTrucks performed the modifications needed for additional shocks and fabricated a custom engine cage along with adding chromoly plating on frame and frame pivots for additional reinforcement. This front end set up allows for 37" Toyo's to clear at full bump travel. To finish off the look of this custom front suspension set-up, the lower arms were boxed and all tube work was sent off for a high gloss powder-coat finish.

Rear Suspension

The goal for the crew at SoCal SuperTrucks was to gain the most wheel travel possible while keeping the functionality of the factory bed. The out come is what you see here... a functional bed with some impressive tube work and a good amount of wheel travel, 18 inches to be exact. This was made possible via a Deaver race-pack and custom chromoly shackles. For dampening, Fox supplied 16" stroke 2.5" 3-tube bypass shocks with a set of 2.0 bump-stops nestled into the plated and reinforced frame-rails. Custom spring plates were fabbed to keep the shocks outboard on the trussed & reinforced rear axle housing. Internally, the 3.73:1 gears were scrapped and replaced with a 4.56:1 gear set and Eaton rear locker. Of course, the crew couldn't go without stripping and powder-coating the entire set-up to match the gloss-black frame which was entirely stripped of the factory undercoat.

Performance

For added horsepower and drivability, a few key components were added. To allow the vehicle to breathe, a K&N air intake system was added in the engine compartment along with a set of ceramic coated JBA Performance headers and plug wires. The team at FMS Performance custom built a free-flowing exhaust system with an IMCO stainless race series muffler which dumps neatly out the rear bed side. A Hypertech Power Programmer was added to wake up the factory ECU and bump the rev limiter and increase the top speed limiter. In the rear diff, an Eaton Locker and a set of 4.56:1 gear set was added to help get the oversized tires rolling and get them hooking up.minum differential cover- Holds an extra 47% of oil and keeps temperatures 10 degrees cooler.

Brakes

To assure ample stopping power when rolling over the rough stuff, Brembo's biggest and baddest system was chosen. The front calipers are 8 piston, which clamp down on a 15" cross drilled rotor. The rear system uses 4 piston calipers and use a 13.5" drilled rotor. Custom brakelines were used to accommodate the wider stance.

Audio/Video

With the help of Directed Electronics Inc., Orion, Kenwood, and Bassick Addictions in Highland, CA. a custom Audio, Video, and Navigation system was installed. Some key components in this system are: Kenwood touchscreen navigation w/ widescreen front monitor, Orion 800 watt multi-channel amp to power 4 sets of Orion P6.2 component speakers mounted in custom, color matched pods in each door, Orion 1700 watt Class D amp powering 2 12" H2 Orion subwoofers mounted in a custom sub enclosure in between the custom rear bucket seats, DEI 7" widescreen monitors in each headrest, and custom wiring and cables by Audio Essentials. All monitors in the vehicle are wired to any of the 4 sources: Navigation, DVD, or can view either the front suspension camera or rear suspension camera that SoCal SuperTrucks installed in custom enclosures under the vehicle. Play back of the suspension cameras can be recorded to allow viewing at a later time.

Exterior

To fit the oversized Toyo M/T's, GlassWorks Unlimited front fenders were installed and the rear bedsides were stretched almost 2 inches and opened up about 6 inches to fit the 37" tires. A custom front bumper was designed and fabricated which tucks nicely up against the grill shell that protects the three HID off-road lights. With the factory bumper removed, it was necessary to tuck the frame rails back, cap them and hide all of the factory non-sense which is normally masked by the bumper. To add a little show car appeal, billet anodized door handles, and a one-off billet exhaust bezel were machined by Empire Motorsports in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

Wheels & Tires

37" Toyo Open Country Mud Terrain Tires were wrapped around Weld Racing Forged "Commando" wheels.

Paint

Knowing this truck was just as much a showpiece as anything, the truck was handed over to StarSide Designs in Riverside, for a unique Camoflauge paint scheme which flows nicely from the front grill, all the way back to the trimmed and shaved rear rollpan.
